don’t sleep on sg theatre!! 😭✨🇸🇬 what to catch:

it’s been a very artsy october for me, and i love it!! caught two very different local theatre productions and was blown away by both. if you’re looking for a date activity or just a solo day out, it’s a great chance to support the local arts scene 🇸🇬

1️⃣ 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 🪧

this was laugh out loud comedic, yet intensely thought provoking. tbh, was pleasantly surprised that the play didn’t get cancelled despite addressing some serious topics and pushing the boundaries of free speech here - hoping that’s a step forward in the right direction.

even though the original play was set in italy and premiered in 1970, somehow the topics are still so relevant. loved that they adapted the play with very local flavours and actors performed in mandarin, malay, tamil etc. too, so it was very inclusive. it’s a very relatable play with great acting and i’m confident this will be an entertaining experience!

2️⃣ 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘂𝗺 👕

i’ve loved the musical soundtrack for so long, and finally got the chance to watch it in performance 🥹 it’s my first musical in sg and i didn’t know what to expect, but honestly the staging, effects, and singing all exceeded my expectations! 💯

dear evan hansen centers around mental health, and while there are hilarious moments, it also has deeply reflective portions. i’m sure there are experiences of feeling alone and unimportant that we can all relate to. at the end of the day, it sends a powerful message is that if we reach out, there will be someone there to support us.
