ASL signs to teach your baby!

I personally start teaching sign language at 6 months old. Teaching babies sign helps them learn how to communicate from an early age which in turn limits the tantrums and frustration. When they are able to effectively tell you what they need, things go a lot smoother. Consistency is key! Use these signs every time they are appropriate and baby will learn what they mean in no time! After introducing these 5, you can start adding in more to expand their vocabulary.

1. Milk: Use this one when they have a bottle or breastfeed. As soon as they latch, show them the sign.

2. Eat: Around 6 months is when most babies are starting solids. Anytime you put them in the high chair to eat, show them the sign.

3. More: When feeding them solids, sign “more” before you give them another bite.

4. All Done: When baby is showing signs of being done with their meal, show them this sign and take the food away.

5. Drink: As soon as they start drinking things besides milk, you can introduce this sign.
