What no one tells us about hosting guests 🏡

We love hosting guests & friends in our home 🏠 and we designed our home with the intention of hosting many guests in the first place!

When we had our initial meeting with our ID, one of the criterias we had was that we wanted our living room to look spacious and suitable for hosting bigger groups of friends! :))

We just love hosting our friends at our place and it brings us a lot of joy that this space of our own can also be a gathering space for meaningful conversations, fun with games and all to happen! We are really happy that after moving in for 5 months now, we have had many guests come over - our family, friends and even our nice neighbours! Soo to us there’s a lot of pros👍🏻 to hosting guests!

Just the cons(?) or the downside that no one really shares with us -

1) the preparation — oh the stress when our house is kinda untidy and we have guests coming 😅!! each time guests come, we spend some time just making sure our house looks neat and presentable first

2) the cleaning up afterwards — when hosting guests, it means lots of food and maybe cooking, so oily floors is inevitable! so sweeping and mopping is much needed after each round of hosting! oh and washing of dishes too! thankfully we have our robo vacuum and dishwasher that has saved us a lot of hassle 😅

3) potential disruptions

there cld be potential disruptions in the sense that there’s increased noise levels, or also disturbance to your usual lifestyle cos you’d wanna accommodate to their needs (like close one eye here and there with regards to certain usual living habits hahah not sure if you get me)

we have wondered if we’re okay with all these “cons” and we came to a consensus that the pros still outweigh the cons for us. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻the point is that we really love hosting guests and there is a very practical consideration about its prep & cleanup afterwards needed but we still love the warmth of having people over even more!

It’s just an interesting thought cos we never realised what goes on behind hosting people until after we moved in to our own home and started hosting ourselves 😂

now we really appreciate going to friends’ houses even more too because we understand that they’re gonna do a lot of cleaning up in terms of mopping 🧹 and all that after we leave their place too! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
