Reasons why not owning a car is okay 🚌🚇👌🏻

Back to #Adulting101 and sharing why we choose not to own a car even though we both have a driver’s license.

✌🏻Caveat, wanna say that we’re not against owning cars. Owning a car is defo great & useful, particularly when it’s within one’s financial means. 😊 Owning cars has its obvious benefits. So we thought of sharing the reasons why we choose to not own a car instead :))

Reasons why we choose to ❌ own a car

1. Did you see the COE prices?

just the financial commitment of owning a car alone to us is 🚩🚩🚩 and the depreciation? that financial commitment is not something we’re ready for 💸💸💸

When we studied at NTU in the far west while living in the east, we did consider renting a car to help save time on the long travelling. But as we budgeted, the calculations🧮 turned out that grabbing daily is still cheaper than owning a car. 💸😱

Ranking the amt of expenses that will flyyyyy:

🚌🚇 Bus/Train: 💸

🚕 Grab: 💸💸💸

🚙 Own car: 💸💸💸💸💸

2. We can be productive while travelling

we like using the time travelling to do other things like catching up on readings/ scroll through the phone/ catch up on messages/ or just give our brain a rest etc etc 😅 cos driving also takes up mental space & energy & defo can’t focus on replying to people’s msges.

By travelling via public transport/grab, we also get to enjoy being passenger > the driver. :) Being a driver is rly more tiring than being a passenger! 😮‍💨

3. There’s high connectivity in the public transport system, connecting us from one place to another easily.🚌🚇

🔴Red line, 🟢green line, 🔵blue line, 🟣purple line, 🟤brown line…. Funny how we can visualise which mrt line we’re referring to even tho these are not their real names. 🤣🤣🤣

There’ve rly been some days where travelling via public transport is faster than taking grab/driving. In Singapore particularly, it’s rly so small that you can travel around the whole country in a day 😂

Tadaaa, so this is why we don’t have a car of our own. At least not at this point in our life as we do not want to incur more debt (repaying HDB for our house is alr enough we dw to owe more ppl money😛)
