We met 10 IDs before finding the one!

𝐰𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬!

before we even started on our design brief, i lurked around instagram and plenty of renovation forums to read up on all kinds of renovation horror stories 😮 the more i read, the higher my expectations are and the more detail oriented i become.

in case you’re wondering what kind of high expectations i have, here goes:

▪️ID to be the person doing the construction drawings, 3D renderings etc (i don’t like it outsourced or by drafters)

▪️proficient on spatial planning

▪️great at advising practically and functionality (whether things can be done)

▪️great design sense (understand our design direction exactly as it is pretty unique)

▪️reasonably priced

▪️good chemistry and easy to work with

it was so difficult to find an ID who can check off all my requirements above. plenty of IDs outsourced their 3D renderings and a few of them did not consider plumbing & waste pipes in their design 😨

after meeting 9 IDs and going through 7 quotations, i felt that neither of them was a 100% yes for me (Amos isn’t as particular as me so he left it to me to decide). I really didn’t want to settle so I actually restarted the ID search again (hence the 10th ID). there was actually a 11th and 12th ID lined up but i cancelled on them because when I met the 10th, i felt like i finally met the one 😍 sounds super dramatic but it is true!!
