grieving children 💔

I was very hesitant to join this “challenge“ but somebody has to start. A lot of people talk about parents losing children, but a child outliving their parent is equally devastating. My father passed in November 2022 the day before Thanksgiving. My dad and I’s relationship hasn’t always been perfect. It’s definitely been a rough ride the 22 years that I had him around. It took me a while to forgive him for everything, but once I did, it was one of the best decisions I feel like I’ve made. Just a month before he passed I was highly upset with him about something that wasn’t in his control. I eventually got over myself and spoke to him and we were back best friends again like nothing had ever happened and I can say that is one of the greatest things I’ve done because I lost him a month later in a very heartbreaking way even till this day, almost 2 years later, I still grieve him. To any of the children who have lost parents, I won’t lie and say it gets any easier, but it definitely hurts less. I still find myself writing him letters and speaking to him hoping he’ll come visit me in my dreams one day; unfortunately, my father won’t be able to walk me down the aisle or meet his grandchildren, even though he’s not physically here I know that he is around somewhere cheering me on from wherever.
