binge eating at night has been a struggle of mine and it has negatively affected my health as well as my weight 🤒 but after doing more research on how to avoid late night snacking, i’ve done a 180 and stopped this habit of mine!

𝙩𝙞𝙥 #1️⃣

protein in your meals and snacks helps increase fullness and prevents your hunger from returning quickly 🤤

one of my favourite easy way to incorporate extra protein in my breakfast is by adding cottage cheese with my eggs, as well as having a protein shake throughout the day ☕️

𝙩𝙞𝙥 #2️⃣

during stressful days, you may find yourself craving for high fat, sugary, or salty snacks at night! stress can affect your self-control, as well as spiking hormones that make your feel hungry — therefore increase cravings for comfort foods like sweets or chips 🍟

use stress-reduction techniques like yoga and medication, or get help from a medical professional from a therapist to help regulate your stress and anxiety 🧖‍♀️

𝙩𝙞𝙥 #3️⃣

don’t have a proper sleep routine? then you’re most likely finding yourself craving for food late at night! when your body is tired, it releases cortisol, which is a stress hormone that can lead to cravings for fatty and sugary foods 🍕

rest is the answer and you need to stare prioritising quality sleep! it’s not something that you can postpone for your health 😴

𝙩𝙞𝙥 #4️⃣

do you find certain foods to be “off-limits”? when you are restrictive, this can be a huge cause for food cravings! even if you’re eating enough during the day, a rigid food mentality can lead to low food satisfaction and you can even end up eating when you’re not hungry 🍔

understand that there is no “good” or “bad” foods and you have full permission to eat and enjoy without feeling guilty about it! the more “off-limit” a good is, it only will increase your cravings for it 😎

sticking to a routine is one of the best ways to stop random late night food cravings — so brushing your teeth after dinner is perfect for this 🫧

with the time you put to clean up your teeth, it will make you question if you’re really hungry at 2AM or you’re just bored and want to eat something! plus, no one likes brushing their teeth twice at night 😤
