Small biz tips- preparing for a market 💃✨

I’ve been doing pop-up events and craft fairs for the past year and a half, and I’ve done 99 of them!! I still change things up and still learn as I go, but here’s some tips that helped me when I first started out:

✨ PRACTICE YOUR SETUP AT HOME

Play around to see how you want to display your items. Once you figure out what you like, take pictures for the day of! Set up time is always stressful, so this way you know exactly where to put everything! Also recommend putting up your tent at home so you know how it works and just in case there’s any issues (the first tent we bought was already broken out of the box so glad we figured that out ahead of time!)

✨ IT’S BETTER TO HAVE MORE INVENTORY THAN NOT ENOUGH

Trying to figure out how much inventory to bring is tricky, but a general rule I keep for myself is to set a goal for how much you want to make and bring enough for that. Whether you want to make double your vendor fee or 10x the vendor fee, use that goal to gauge how much products to bring!

✨ MAKE A CHECKLIST

There’s been times I’ve accidentally forgotten to take my table clothes out of the dryer, forgot to charge my card reader, or forgot to bring paper bags for my customers purchases. Lists help a lot!!

✨ BRING WEIGHTS FOR YOUR TENT

This is an absolute MUST in my opinion. Wind can be your worst nightmare at an outdoor event. I’ve seen people’s tents fly away, break, and almost injure people. Get an adequate amount of weights and save yourself the trouble!
