Isla Mujeres: AMAZING food, insane water. Lots to do/see. Only downside is how touristy this island is.
Holbox: my favorite of these beach towns, had such a great downtown - people outside dancing, good drinks, etc. Perfect blue water, walkable (car less island).
Sisal: a great day trip from Merida if you need an escape to the beach. Good food, not super friendly people.
Bacalar: actually not a beach town but a fresh water lagoon. Located two hours south of Tulum, still super underrated & affordable for what it is!
