Working in the ICU - future CRNA ✨

I work in the float pool, so I get to work all over. Occasionally I get to work in the ICU. My ultimate end goal is to be a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist). Once I am finished with my BSN, I want to work in the ICU to get my experience so I can apply to a DNP-CRNA program!

The ICU is total care by the nurses, so techs have very limited responsibility. It is REALLY boring as a tech, however, I love to watch the nurses work and learn from them. I plan on transferring to the ICU as a tech when I have about a year of school remaining, in hopes that it helps me to get a position as a new grad. Being in the float pool, I’ve gotten to meet staff at more than one ICU between the hospitals I work at, and I’ve made good connections.

I’m thankful for all of the different experiences I get in the float pool! Any ICU techs or nurses here? Any CRNAs? I’d love to hear about your experiences!
