September Wrap Up

As my partner mused, it felt like I had a book in my hand for the entire month of September. Eight also has been the most I've ever read in a month and I'm so so proud of myself.

The best book I read was definitely Sharp Objects. The characters were phenomenal and I thoroughly enjoyed Flynn's writing. Amma is a freaky ass kid (I was weird when I was thirteen but not thar weird) and Adora is a very helicopter of a parent (amd really unsettling). Alan? That's just Alan, defending Adora's actions. I absoutely loved Camille. Woman's just doing her best and being obsessive and her own twist of weird while doing it.

Gillian Flynn really knocked it out of the ballpark for me. The only reason I marked it four stars was because I was so focused on somebody else being the suspect that I was so shocked and a bit appalled because I was wrong. The twist is still so fucking fantastic.

Here's to weird kids, mentally ill half sibings, and super controlling mothers.
