Exploring Tanglin Halt before it’s gone!

Scheduled for demolition soon, I made my way down to Tanglin Halt to capture the sights and experience what life is like living there before it all goes into dust.

One of Singapore’s first few satellite towns, this place holds many precious memories for the residents. However, due to the SERs project that was announced back in 2014, residents now have to bid farewell to their beloved home and relocate elsewhere while the land is set for redevelopment.

What drew me to this location was the striking pink blocks along Tanglin Halt Road, which gives it a very nostalgic vibe to the entire area. Upon exploring the area, there is even an abandoned hair salon whose interior is still stuck in the past. You can peep through the window to see that most of the fixtures were still in place and it gives you a sense of what life was like back in the days. If you are lucky on your trip down, you might even spot some of the resident cats around the neighborhood!

While most of the residents have moved out, there is still some time before the entire area is fenced up for redevelopment, so do head down soon and explore and pet some cats while at it.
