THE GROUP CHAT DIDNT MAKE IT OUT OF THE TRIP

Travelling with your best friends can make or break your friendship and in this case, it broke (well one of us) ours.

We have been friends for almost 10 years prior and it was our first time travelling together.

For the purpose of anonymity, i will name our friend 'A'. This was one of those trips that finally made it out of the groupchat. 4 of us have been close for a long time and decided that we would like to visit Taiwan together.

I was the closest with A, but we were on and off due to her penchant for lying to me, even if it was ridiculous (eg. Getting into harvard and rejecting it 🤔).

The trip honestly started on a great note! We were having fun together, hanging out and exploring taipei. Then it took a turn. A decided that she wanted to meet her 'friend' in Taiwan instead of going ahead with our already planned activities, claiming that it's her father's friend and she has to entertain them. 🧐 (we suspected it was a tinder date because she was swiping tinder the moment we landed). We felt iffy about it as we had all wanted to spend time together, and everything was planned. But since she mentioned that it was her father's friend we let her go ahead and went about our day.

The next day, the same thing. She met her 'friend' again. We were supposed to go to a club together, which she joined for a brief moment before bailing again to meet her 'friend'. At this point we just let her go. She even stayed out overnight and expected us to open the door for her in the morning.

At this point all of us felt like, what's the point of going overseas together if she is just going to abandon us? If she wanted to do this she should have just been transparent at the start. It was really hurtful to us that she would rather hang out with a random guy OVERSEAS no less.

This was the last straw we had with her. She was someone who was generous and loving, but only when it benefits her. I guess we are better off with someone who actually wants to spend time with us.
