🇲🇻 Maldives: is it worth travelling there? 🤔

a long overdue post, actually went to Maldives in May.

we bought a package with Club Med Kani which included transportation to and fro the resort & airport, stay, food and activities. The boat ride took about an hour to reach the resort and I can tell you the ride is not for the weak. & I AM WEAK 🤢😵‍💫

the staff there was very friendly and extroverted. For me who is 社恐, it was a struggle 🤣

usually the rainy season starts in July but unfortunately for us it came early. So the weather was actually quite bad during our time there with frequent rain showers and strong winds. A lot water activities got cancelled and we had to cut short outdoor dinner due to the weather ☹️🥺

but luckily we still managed to see some baby sharks and manta ray, very cuteee 🦈

the food was quite repetitive across the different days so it got quite boring after awhile. & because we were on an island with activities cancelled, there was not much to do other than lying by the beach ☹️ at least the bar was free flow so i tried out a lot of different drinks🍹

highly recommended to at least wear diving shoes before you walk in the water because there are a lot of corals in the water!! I walked around barefoot and ended up w a puncture wound which landed me in the A&E when i returned back to sg due to infection 🏥 and this happened on the last day of my trip.

on the last day we left the resort early to walk around the capital - Male and i can say it is really not what i expected in terms of the roads and transportation. I didn’t do my research before heading there so i did not know it was a third world country 😱

Maldives is a supposedly a honeymoon destination but i went w a group of friends 🤣

Getting to see the views was a good experience but i wouldn’t travel there again tbh.
