Small business diary entry 01

Hey Zesties 🍋

Today I wanna share something that has been in the works for some time now, I’m starting a small business selling flowers and polymer clay earrings 🤍

If you’ve seen my previous post where I made a totoro keycap, you’d know that I love creating small figurines, key chains and key caps out of polymer clay! I also tried making some earrings recently and I really enjoy creating such beautiful pieces ◡̈ Each piece takes many hours to sculpt, bake, sand & buff, glaze and assemble but I’m proud to say that I poured my whole heart into making them!

I’m also hoping to document the process of starting this small business on social media & im starting with Lemon8 as my digital diary #MyLemon8Diary 📔

🌸 Why did I start this business?

- I have a 9-6 office job and I spend a lot of time staring at the screen, I felt pretty lost in terms of what I want to do in life and couldn’t foresee myself just working a normal office job till I grow old 😞

- I yearned to create beautiful things and something with my hands

- I’ve always been quite a creative individual and enjoy art since I was a child

- I found so much joy and meaning in creating beautiful flower bouquets and polymer clay earrings, I hope to be able to share them with people as well ◡̈

🌱 The process so far

- if you’ve seen my previous post on attending floral courses, I invested quite a bit of money and time into learning the basics of floristry & polymer clay crafts (and I’m still learning every day!)

- I registered my small business, got bookkeeping and client tracking tools etc

- After learning the basics I wanted to find my own style and practiced making lots of earrings. I finally found a style I liked and started testing different colour combinations!

- And that’s where we’re at today! This entire process took about 1.5 months

- The next step would be to launch a website and start doing some marketing to make the business “known”. However, it’s currently peak period at my office job so this step is taking a while 🫢 But for now I’m starting by documenting the process & posting things that I think would be interesting to people ◡̈
