Things I hated about being an micro-influencer

I feel like a lot of what we see and know of even micro-influencing can be pretty jaded. Granted, free products/PR can be amazing and exciting. It was by far my favorite part of doing it.

THE STRESS: Okay, so you get to the point where brand deals are starting to come in steady, but you don’t have a manager yet, and even IF you do, you have to sift through the companies. Things become concerns that you never even thought of before: privacy concerns (spyware, content ownership, monetization)? What does the brand stand for? Is it a scam? Is it something that’s safe for you to advertise and represent?

PIGEON-HOLING: Blow up for a subject and suddenly it’s all you’re known for, and sometimes, those are the only videos that get views. I could post a different video and get 1K (views), but if I posted about what was expected from my account, it would often be 100K+. The freedom to be myself felt like it became 0 quickly, and I was just expected to dance.

STANDING UP FOR YOURSELF: Yeah, don’t even bother responding to the hate comments, trying to defend yourself, or explain yourself. Giving it attention just seems to cause 10 more to sprout in its place, and can become very stressful as well.

All in all, my short and small experience with influencing was cool especially in the beginning, but it was enough to show me it definitely may not be for me. Any similar experiences?
