💍 3 storage solutions for your jewelry!

As I thought about designing and allocating a space to store my jewelry in our future home, I started shortlisting and reviewing the past and current storage solutions I have ever tried. Here’s my take on the 3 common storage solutions that most use and read on to find out which solution I’m going with for our new 🏡!

Brief background: I 💕 wearing earrings — from small dainty ones and large statement pieces. I often find myself running out of space to store them properly or I will simply chuck them in a box or drawer and completely forget about their existence.

1) Jewelry box: Tried it but didn’t like it. I did not have a proper/sufficient space to put it. It was either always inside a cabinet or tucked somewhere far at the corner of the table and really difficult to access. I also couldn’t stack or put stuff on it because it has flip up opening. It is also generally quite small so I will be forced to declutter or throw out stuff quite often.

2) Earrings Display Stand: Most of my jewelry are earrings. I barely have bracelets and only just a few rings which come with their own boxes. So when I came across this dark green marble earring display stand on taobao, I knew it was the perfect solution for me! I love seeing all my earrings on display and it is placed next to my mirror so I can visualise how each pair will look like with my outfit before choosing which to wear. I truly hope there will be a space for this beautiful earring display stand in my new home! But the number of holes is definitely not enough for me and it tends to accumulate dust. So i do have to dust it every now and then with an old makeup brush which I no longer use. It is also the only storage solution I know which keeps my tassel earrings in a nice shape!

3) Customised accessory drawer: Never had the luxury of space to do such a thing but it would be wonderful to have a proper home for all my accessories (earrings, watches, rings, bracelets, etc), isn’t it? Imagine being able to see everything at one glance just like in a jewelry shop! So this is the storage solution that I will be going for in our new home! I intend to customise the organiser inserts online after carpentry is done (just to be safe) since measurements have to be very precise. Customising stuff is always a headache cos you have to decide what goes where and it seems almost as if it’s an irreversible decision. But anyway, this shouldn’t be too costly so if I really do need to re-do it in future, I think it’s fine too.
