👩🏻 did extensive research on kitchen appliances to ensure she’ll be motivated to cook. Both of us dislike washing up after cooking (esp 👦🏻) so we catered space for a large capacity setting dishwasher that can fit pots and pans too (freestanding so we can shift it with us in future. Hope it will last a long time).

We knew that we won’t be able to deal with having our daily meals on a bar height island so we wanted a normal height dining table no matter what.

👩🏻 also requested to put a corner fan (minimally) so that the open kitchen gets ventilated properly when cooking. 👩🏻 finds that food turns cold too fast if the aircon is near the dining table.

Some other appliances that 👩🏻 was thinking of previously. Built-in combi ovens are great, but they’re also costly. And imagine this, while it’s in use, you can’t cook your 2nd or 3rd dish if you need to use another function. After researching for some time, we decided that we should have a multi-function oven that can steam, air fry, stew, etc. A built-in oven to complete the tall unit look and so that cooking can be done more quickly! We also decided to switch from a built-in microwave to countertop one – not aesthetically pleasant but so much cheaper.

On hood and hob, we wanted to get a good hood since we are doing open kitchen concept. But chimney hoods are pretty bulky and we have also seen friends who didn’t even switch their hoods on when cooking lol. So after much deliberation, we might be going back to square one – slimline hood that can do some basic suction and smell filter. For the hob, we were going to and fro between induction or mixed/hybrid hob. Decided to not think so much and just go with induction hob in the end!

Fridge is another large item that can take a long time to search…
