add suwon to your korea itinerary 🇰🇷

in my recent korea trip, my friend and i decided to go out of seoul and explore! we decided to go to suwon (thank you kdramas) and we LOVED it

i heard suwon is actually quite far from seoul but you can now take the seoul metro and it takes about 1 hour only? it’s pretty simple too but can get a lil confusing cuz the line splits up at one point to go to a different station — best to ask other passengers if the train that’s approaching is actually going to suwon! if not u might end up on the wrong train 😵‍💫

suwon is a quiet city outside of seoul and it lowkey reminded me of busan! but suwon is just a day trip location tbh cuz it’s pretty easy to navigate and everything is nearby

it’s a very historical place with a lot of culture and it was so fascinating to walk around the hwaseong fortress and take in the view of suwon

i suggest dressing comfortably cuz i feel like suwon is better appreciated by walking and you may want to climb up the fortresses and take in the view from above!

for cafe lovers ☕️ this is the place for you! the cafes here are soo aesthetic and there’s a multitude of them - contrary to how the city may appear. the local food market actually didn’t have a lot of food that appealed to us, but there are tons of other places around so have a light lunch and cafe hop 🍰 the cafes are sooo pretty, we couldnt decide where to go

my trip was around middle towards the end of march so there werent a lot of cherry blossoms in seoul and busan but we were so glad to find that a few cherry blossom trees had already bloomed in suwon 🌸

weather wise for when i went (mar 21) was quite warm actually. it was 20°c from what I remember! seoul was at around 15°c at that point of time. if you’re going around the same period, i think comfy jeans/trousers and a short-sleeved top is pretty good!

if you’re going for a trip to south korea anytime soon, clear out a day from your schedule to visit suwon! it’s such a pretty city and is a really different vibe from bustling seoul 🎀
