magic square is not like any other restaurant that you’ve been to.

i chanced upon magic square back in february and was intrigued by their concept. what is magic square? it is essentially a restaurant for young singaporean chefs to create their own menu, to explore and experiment with ingredients and flavours that resonate with their identity!

the menu changes each month because there are 4 different chefs on rotation and each take turns to create a new menu after the month ends. i’ve had the chance to dine in twice at magic square, both of the meals that i’ve had there were unique and delightful. i don’t think there was a single dish that left my partner and i feeling meh or disappointed (which really says a lot about the quality and thought they put into each dish) our favourite was a lemon, cuttlefish and chrysanthemum dish by chef jonathan for june’s menu, and also a pumpkin gnocchi with curry leaf emulsion by chef pristina for march’s menu.

the open kitchen/bar concept allows you to get the best seat in watching the magic unfold, the chef of the month will do a mini introduction of each delectable dish as it’s served to you and the experience overall is absolutely amazing, you have to try it for yourself. highly recommend trying this place out for your next special occasion or regular date night.

prices start at 98 per pax (which is SO reasonable given that it’s 9 course meal)
