POV: I took a mental day off

I took a day off

Backstory::: I am a really hardworking person that hardly takes a break and work non-stop everyday. I usually feel guilty when I have to step out of my desk to go eat or to use the bathroom, I can’t forgive myself when I go back to my desk and find a missed call or if I take more than 2 minutes to reply to an email… I dedicate so much time to my job that I forget about myself.

A lot of things have happened that has demotivated me from my job and thanks to that I started to appreciate myself more and dedicating myself more time because it was already getting to me and affecting my mental and physical wellbeing.

Today I’m off, I am currently sitting in my couch feeling weird that I’m not working when I know there is a lot of work to do, but I need to realize that I am a human being, not a machine and I deserve to breathe and take a step back.

Today has been a really peaceful day for me and I’m happy I am realizing that I am more than a worker but a human being with personal needs.

Ps: my work phone keeps ringing and I’m just ignoring it because WTH?? It’s just one day!! I’ll go back tomorrow, will they ever get that? 🤦🏻‍♀️
