A year ago I got fed up paying $6+ for a bottle of cold brew and decided to try making my own.

☕️ I first made it in a large mason jar and strained it with a fine mesh strainer

☕️After I decided to stick with it, I invested $15 in a cold brew pitcher with a mesh plunger - similar to a French Press, but this isn’t necessary.

☕️ The steps are simple, just work ahead so you have cold brew for the next day.

1. Pick your container and beans. We like Expresso roast, whole bean. I buy the big bag at Sam’s.

2. Course grid your beans. You don’t want a finely ground powdery coffee or your cold brew will be gritty. For my contrainer I use 1 cup of course ground coffee.

3. Add water. For my container, I use 5 cups of cold, filtered water. This is up to your taste. Add more or less water depending on how strong you like your coffee.

4. Refrigerate and wait. This is the hard part if you don’t work ahead. We refrigerate ours for 12-24 hours.

5. Strain. Depending on your container either pour through a fine mesh strainer or plunge the grounds down to the bottom or your French press. We transfer ours to a separate container to free up the cold brew pitcher for the next batch.

It is so simple and the actual work takes less than 2 minutes. Give it a try and start saving some $$!

Let me know if you try it or if you have a different method that works for you!!
