date idea? affordable pottery across the border 😍

Hey guys! Looking for fun date ideas or just been wanting to try pottery in general? Crossing the border to JB may be the way to go! 🤩

A ballpark figure of the pottery prices in Singapore - Am I Addicted $100 (2h), 8th Room $98 (2h), Potter’s Guilt $58+$10 (1.5h)

Generally, most studios charge upwards of $60 for 1.5h-2h classes and may charge extra for firing and glazing the pieces you make 👀 there are cheaper options if you buy packages, but that’s committing to a minimum of 5-10 classes!

However, here we got a 3 hour workshop for RM140 (~$40) which included one on one teaching, and the firing and glazing of 1 out of the 3 pieces we made. You could also choose to fire and glaze additional pieces at RM30 per piece!

✨✨Studio Review✨✨

The place was a small family owned business, with the father being an experienced potter and showing us how to handle the clay. Afterwards, we got to our own wheels where we could apply what we saw with the help of his assistants (his daughters 😂). Classes are really small, 4 per class so we got lots of one on one help and attention! They are also super friendly, teaching you the steps and techniques as well as how to make whatever piece you want.

They give you 3 blocks of clay, where the first piece is for learning, the second to practice and the third where you’re on your own, even providing you with tripods to film yourself! Super considerate and well thought out 🤩 I broke my second item because I was way too ambitious and happily throwing and pulling out a large plate while the assistants were distracted… but they came over to help me fix it afterwards HAHA.

Also the glaze selection is also ✨SUPER PRETTY✨ I’ve never seen such choices for glaze in Singapore or elsewhere, as it’s usually basic colours if they are helping you glaze. So I was impressed by the wide selection offered!

I would definitely be back, as they have studio rental (no class) for cheaper prices as well as second time prices for cheaper as well if you don’t need the lesson.
