Cya 2023! thanks for the memories 👋🏼

☁️This past year was like a category 5 hurricane - unpredictable & unforgettable.

☁️There were moments of stillness but boy, when it rained, it poured. Its hard to narrow down but here are 3 lessons I learned last year that I’ll pass my wisdom along to the next girlie ♡

*1* Just because you think they’re your friend, doesn’t mean they actually are.

- I was betrayed, abandoned, and ignored by the people I considered my best friends. Most people aren’t going to return what you give, so it’s important to not give too much of yourself away. Some friends are for seasons and are brought into your life to teach you something, and that is okay.

*2* Money isn’t everything, and you shouldn’t be afraid to pursue your passions just because it may not monetize as much as you would like off the jump.

- I quit my 6 figure job, I was making more than anyone around me, I was told I was inspiring to people, I performed well, I learned a lot - but I was unhappy. I didn’t enjoy the work, I felt called towards more. I was called crazy, people assumed I couldn’t handle the work, people talked behind my back - it was an extremely difficult break up. But I did it! Now I’m working on things that excite me & I’m not afraid to fail. A failure is only a step closer to a success.

*3* You are more than your past experiences. You are capable of growing and learning. Anyone who discredits your personal development is not someone you need in your life.

- I dealt with a lot of survivors guilt this year, and struggled deeply with comparison. I had to really sit back and evaluate my growth and stop allowing people to use my experiences, my pain, as a means of example. People joked about my past, to my face, and refused to look at how far I’ve come. That isn’t their responsibility to applaud my progress, but it is my responsibility to maintain my dignity and not let others mock my triumphs. Boundaries are beautiful, and standing on those boundaries is a power move.

☁️ a vulnerable post, but I think my first lesson of 2024 will be exploring vulnerability. Allowing myself to be softer and accept being human. I’ve spent my life pretending I’m perfect, flaunting my independence. This is my year to be ME.
