Wedding on a Budget 🤍

Just as many others, I’ve spent my whole life thinking about the big day. Having my version of the “perfect” day was important to me, but I also kept in mind that everyday after my wedding was just as important—and there was no need to go into debt for one day. I was able to keep to a budget and still have my dream wedding. Everyone has certain things that are important to them, so this list may not work for everyone, but here are three things I cut or did myself to save some money:

wedding favors 🎁: although I’ve been to a few weddings where the couple used meaningful favors that play into some sort of story or has sentimental value, we didn’t have anything like that to use. We opted to skip buying favors altogether.

centerpieces 🕯️: all the decor that goes into a wedding can get overwhelming. I kept my centerpieces simple and made them at home, with some help from family. I love the lantern and greenery look—the woodsy vibes—and I loved that the wood we used to build the lanterns came from my father’s home, and building them with my grandpa and sister made them even more special.

Flowers 💐: my floral use was minimal, I’m not too much of a flower person, but I did use more greenery. I used fake flowers and greenery when I needed them, and we made all the arrangements ourselves. We shopped deals for the florals and, because my color was sage green, I used sage table runners (see second photo) for all the tables and didn’t really need much else there which really helped us save. We did use more florals for the head table, but again, all arranged by myself or my grandmother! Also, we skipped boutonnières for the groomsmen—I personally don’t even notice them in most wedding photos and they didn’t add much joy for me, so we spent the fund elsewhere.

That’s the question: does it bring joy? This day should be filled with happiness and joy, not trends that you’re not even sure you love. This is a day for you and your partner, not Pinterest or Instagram. Make sure every detail brings you joy! :)
