new closet favorites for summer!

These are some pieces I recently bought that I really wanted to have on hand this summer (also just to have in general). I have 6 different categories and included what I bought for each category👇

SUNDRESSES (or mini dresses)

It gets really hot in the summer where I live, and dresses are one of the coolest options when it comes to dressing for hot weather. Especially for those occasions when you need to be a little dressed up. This is a mini dress from American Eagle I recently bought that can be styled lots of different ways! Loved the cream color, and how basic it is, making it super versatile.

SQUARE NECK TOPS & OFF THE SHOULDER TOPS

Two great styles for summer tops! These two styles can be dressed up or down depending on how you style them. This floral top from Nordstrom Rack is square neck, but can also be an off the shoulder top which I LOVED. Something like this would be cute paired with some trousers, a skirt, denim, white bottoms.. This one is fitted around the torso, but has see-through, flowy sleeves.

ROMPERS

For those occasions you don’t want to wear a dress, rompers are a great solution. I like rompers for summer because they are COMFORTABLE. Especially in the heat, something that is not tight fitting like a romper is really nice to have. This sage green one is from Nordstrom Rack, and I really liked this one because of the color and the buttons. This would look so nice paired with some platform sandals or espadrilles!

STRAIGHT LEG DENIM (Abercrombie’s 90s straight)

Ok, these are my new favorites jeans. I wanted to specify these jeans because they are comfortable, well made, flattering, and a style that will go with everything. I also love the medium wash of these jeans too. Typically in summer I go for a lighter wash or medium wash, and these ones were such a nice blue. I HIGHLY recommend this style if you’re looking for some good jeans, which is the 90s straight high rise jean from Abercrombie. I also really like the 90s relaxed jeans from Abercrombie (which I’ve posted before several times), but I think I might like these ones even better!

LINEN SHORTS (especially in white)

White linen shorts are trending this summer, and I love it because linen shorts are just so comfortable. They’re loose, flowy, and can look really put together if styled in the right way. I think these would look especially cute for vacations/travels to the beach or tropical destinations. This specific pair I just bought is from Amazon and was around $10! Loved the buttons, the pockets, and they’re also lined so they’re not see through (which is hard to find with white linen).

SWEAT-SHORTS

Again, another COMFY piece that I am always wearing for summer. I know sweats material is not the coolest option for fabric, but the fact that they’re shorts is usually enough to keep me cool. I will wear these both for sleep AND going out! Usually I’ll style sweat-shorts with a graphic tee, some white crew socks and some sneakers if I’m going out. These would also look cute with a basic high neck tank, some Birkenstocks, a hat and a tote. There’s lots of ways to style sweat-shorts to look more put together and H&M is one of my favorites places to buy them. These are some taupe ones I ordered from H&M recently for around $7 and I LOVE them.
