Best Bánh Mi Ever? You Decide!

Known to be one of the best Vietnamese sandwich (Bánh Mi) you can get in Hanoi area? Here’s my thoughts on it! Firstly, we’ve ordered both their Bánh Mi Kep (classic sandwich-style Bánh Mi) and Bánh Mi Chao (bread with combo pan).

- Barbecued pork with pate (can ordered without pate as well; 35k)

- Honey grilled chicken with avocado (40k)

- Combo Pan: Barbecued pork with pate & sunny side-up

- Mango Smoothie (40k)

- Passion Fruit Smoothie (35k)

Honestly, I haven’t had enough Bánh Mi to be rating them but from what I’ve tried so far, I would say their Bánh Mi was decent but not like super good. Personal opinion here but I felt like the pate was lacking a bit of flavour (maybe to fit most tourist’s taste bud) and I really couldn’t taste the avocado in the honey grilled chicken with avocado Bánh Mi. Perhaps it was because I have had high expectations from the rave and constant long queue but it’s really not like the game-changer or anything. Just a side note, although they have quite a queue, number tags will be given by the staff so everything move rather smoothly and in order (at least that’s what I’ve experienced).

Okay, going back to the review. While their classic Bánh Mi was pretty standard in my opinion (like their baguette wasn’t particularly special nor were the meat especially tender), you can give the Bánh Mi Chao (combo pan) a go! The combo pan was served warm and was basically a deconstructed Bánh Mi but the way it’s presented allows you to assemble and consume it in different ways! Meaning, different flavour and texture in a meal :) Also, their smoothies do impress! For its price, the amount of fruits they used (it doesn’t taste diluted) was just 🔥🔥🔥 and a cold beverage is really the way to go to beat the heat in the streets of Hanoi.

Lastly, the stores were rather clean. However, atmosphere wise, it’s really an eat-and-go store due to the crowd. If I recall correctly, there’s also quite a fair bit of people just taking away and eating by the street. Overall, if you were to ask me, you do not have to specially drop by this store but it’s really not too bad for its prices! Try the Bánh Mi Chao and smoothies though, if you were to visit!

Side Note: Bánh Mi 25 and the Bun Rieu store I’ve recommended on the previous post is like 270m apart (~4 mins walk) so do give that store a go if you are a rice vermicelli/soup lover‼️
