The third wave coffee scene in Zurich is A M A Z I N G, after staying there for 2 months, these are my favourite spots:

•| H. Schwarzenbach |•

One of Zurich’s oldest roasters, located in the centre of Zurich old town, they have a ton of freshly roasted beans in their store. Their roast is a tad on the darker side but it’s worth a trip down for the nostalgia and also great for a grab and go before you walk around old town

•| Mame |•

My absolute top pick for favourite coffee (probably in the world right now) is Mame - opened by Emi and Mathieu, both former Swiss barista champions and WBC finalists. I can gush about how much I love mame and how great their beans are for hours. Emi is also just the sweetest. If you want to have one of the best coffee experiences ever and also geek out over coffee science, then you’ll love mame as much as me.

•| Barista Lab Coffee |•

So this isn’t actually in HB, it’s in Thalwil; Christos is the local coffee guy but damn he makes a mean cup of coffee. Not to mention he’s also an absolute sweetheart and we’ve become fast friends. He does events out of his Land Rover but his main shop is just at the Thalwil railway station. He opens Tuesday-Friday and I religiously walk there every single day, rain, snow, shine for my morning coffee and chat with Christos.

•| Bean Bank Coffee & Co |•

Super near HB, excellent coffee roaster and a great place to grab a quick cup before getting on with your day. They also have pea milk there, rather interesting if you wanna give it a shot

•| COFFEE |•

Pretty self explanatory name ha, a few minutes walk uphill from the train station. They serve lighter roasts and excellent filter coffee. Pick up a pastry while you’re at it, makes a great morning coffee spot on your way to work.

•| OMNIA |•

Run by a couple of Indonesians, most of their coffee is of a darker roast but super fragrant. They are also super friendly and one of my fav spots to go to if I’m around the neighbourhood

•| Miro |•

They have a couple of outlets, including a small takeaway shop at HB. I sometimes find their coffee slightly over extracted and the consistency can be abit off. But they have an excellent selection of beans and the cafe is big, bright and a lovely place for a catch-up or to work from.

•| Babu |•

More so a brunch place, a SUPER popular brunch place with snaking queues almost everyday. Legit coffee to go along with your brunch but I wouldn’t queue for more than 20-30mins for it.

Zurich’s 3rd wave coffee scene really surprised me. I can’t wait to see what new places pop up!
