Underrated Island Getaway ✈️🏝️

When planning for our trip to Lombok, there wasn’t much information online. Everyone’s sharing about Bali but not Lombok.. so I thought I’ll share my experiences here for those who are interested! This post is about Gili T, the largest of Lombok’s Gili Islands 🏝️

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT:

It is less saturated than Bali. Lombok is much quieter so it’s a good time to visit & enjoy the peaceful islands! I truly had a healing time there and will highly recommend Lombok & Gili islands as your next getaway destination ☀️

GETTING THERE:

Fly from SG to LOM ➡️ 1.5hrs grab ride to Bangsal Port ➡️ Fast speed ferry to Gili T (around 30-45mins)

⚠️ some reviews say that you should buy ferry tickets in the white building but we ended up buying from the booth at Bangsal Port where our driver dropped us off- not sure if it’s inflated pricing but it was kinda chaotic, we just wanted to get ANY ticket and be on our way. We also got our return tickets at the same time (but it was not a speed boat when we came back.. maybe we got scammed but again, we don’t really mind the normal boat experience)

⚠️ Do note that grab/gojek are not available in Lombok town area but it is available at the airport.

WHERE TO STAY:

Gili T is a relatively small island. The only modes of transport are cycling and horse carriages. We stayed at the Royal Regantris hotel which was on the other end of the island. It was so aesthetic, clean and located in a more happening area of the island at night- I highly recommend it :) It even has FREE outdoor movie screenings every night! Just imagine comfy bean bags + bbq food + breeze + movie ✨ The only con will be that we had to walked 30mins with our luggages from the port bcus we refuse to ride any horse carriages. Bringing duffle bags definitely helped since the roads are uneven/unpaved.

WHAT TO DO:

- Snorkelling (turtle beach): just rent the equipment for $5? or cheaper

- Cycling: so many places to rent bikes

- Restaurants and cafes : Malibu Beach Club @ Sunset Beach, Coffee & Thyme, Kayu Cafe, Jali Kitchen

I LOVE the island life!! Chilling at the beach with a view, having my smoothie bowls, and eating good food (JALI KITCHEN!!) 💖 Gili T was full of character - so many cute signages everywhere, and there are also many beach clubs (we didn’t go) & small boutiques. You can book diving/snorkling packages and day trips and they will bring you to Gili Air and Gili Meno too :)
