contentment | philippians 4-10-13

This Sabbath in church, we started a series on contentment in preparation for a non-essentials fast we’ll be doing from March 10 - March 31

The sermon was really good and I love that Pastor went into scripture to give us more context behind the very popular Bible verse, Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

He explained that in this text, Paul is thanking the Philippine church for their gift they have given him to help fund the ministry work he is doing. But he lets them know he’s not in desperate need of their gift because he has learned to make do with having little and having a lot. He has learned to be content with whatever he has because he trusts that God will supply all of his needs

The key takeaway for me was instead of always feeling like I need more, take inventory of what I already have and thank God for that. God is still good whether He is opening up the window and pouring out a multitude of blessing blessings, or closing the window for a period of time so that we can learn and practice contentment with what we have
