Be prepared to adapt. . .

In the medical coding world, things are constantly changing, and we are constantly learning. . .

This week was overwhelming, as I took on yet ANOTHER project (2 within the last 2 months) I wanted to take this opportunity to share how swiftly things changes and the vitality of being able to adapt. . .

We get moved around a lot based on client needs. And when you’re moved, you have to learn that project’s guidelines. Everytime. . .

Day 1 reflect my mock assessment for the new project I’m on! How poor right? After 1 day of training, so many missed and invalid codes.

And then there’s day 2! After my second day of training. Huge difference, as the guidelines began to make sense, and align with CMS. . .

The last photo is one pager!!! MY BESTFRIEND, where I keep all notes, for all projects, organized, and jot down key points!

TakeAway: It’s intense, but not impossible! If you don’t understand it today, maybe you will tomorrow! For future coders: CMS guidelines doesn’t change (from client to client), but the client you code for have their own set of guidelines, so keep that in mind! Whenever u move from one client (or project) to another, you have to learn those project specific guidelines.
