should you take a gap year before med school?

This is a very personal question! Let me first talk about the reasons why i did not take a gap year before i started med school.

I was on track to graduate early in undergrad with a major in biology but i chose to stay and have a super chill senior year. I only took classes i wanted to take, and in turn studying for them didn’t feel like a chore. By the end of my senior year, i felt very good so i was like yeah why not go straight through.

I have friends who took a gap year or two though absolutely loved it! I havent met a student who took a gap year and hated it.

What i say to anyone considering taking a gap year is to make sure you have a plan. When you apply to med school, they are going to ask you what you did during your gap year and you dont want to say that you didn’t do anything (i mean u can do nothing for a while but at least do oneee thing haha)

If you want to take one, just do it! Just make sure you have a plan!!
