Money Hack Alternative for 50/30/20 Rule — #03

💵 This can also be considered the 80/20 rule depending on how you breakdown each category.

💸 The 50/30/20 rule has been helping me manage my own money for years! It’s super useful, especially when the income gets tight or unexpected expenses come up.

📲 As mentioned in my previous posts, I posted the original concept on my TikTok years ago. I still get questions about it til this day! So, I’ve decided to provide some alternative options. This was a lesser common option I saw, based around debt repayment or investments.

The 70/20/10 Rule.

💡 Basically, with this version you take 60% of your paycheck and apply that to important/immediate expenses. Then the next % split goes to everyday expenses like food, gas, and personal items. The remaining % can go into your savings or be added to the important or the everyday category.

TLDR: If your paycheck = $1,000

— 70% = $700 for Important Expenses (rent, bills, etc)

— 20% = $200 for Everyday Expenses (groceries, gas money, etc)

— 10% = $100 for Debt Repayment (or investments, or savings)
