This is a follow up to my earlier post on “LUXA / B&B Atelier furniture scam at Tan Boon Liat”. For more context related to this post, please feel free to refer to my previous blog post – link here: https://www.lemon8-app.com/lemon_juicer/7342171772445377025?region=sg

In this post, I aim to shed light on three key areas related to the Tan Boon Liat furniture scam businesses and how they are related to each other (B&B Atelier, Luxa Collections, and Base Collections):

1) Names of the company directors/secretaries

2) Google reviews and SCT cases lodged against them

3) Photographic evidence of these businesses changing names

B&B Atelier (UEN 202227080H)

Lou Zou Yee is appointed company director, while Safura Binte Sa’ad and Koh Teng Teng are appointed secretaries – refer to picture 1

A Google review search shows numerous 1-star complaints related to poor craftsmanship, non-fulfilment, etc. The 1-star reviews have many ‘likes’, whereas the 5-star reviews barely have any - refer to picture 2. Based on this, there seems to be substantial support for poor reviews. Additionally, in 2023, 4 cases SCT cases were lodged against B&B Atelier, and 2 cases were lodged against them in 2024 – refer to picture 3. Based on the number of negative reviews vs SCT cases lodged against them, it is highly probable that many disgruntled customers decided to not pursue legal action against B&B Atelier as SCT proceedings can be lengthy and tedious (you will have to represent yourself in the SCT hearing and cannot appoint a lawyer to do so).

With a substantial number of poor Google reviews, B&B Atelier (unit #13 -09) changed it’s shop name to “LUXA” on 23 Sept 2023 – refer to picture 4.

Luxa Collections (UEN 202319810N)

Lou Zou Yee remains the company director, and Koh Chiang Teck is appointed company secretary – refer to picture 5.

Luxa Google reviews reflect very similar sentiments from 1-star reviewers, about being “scammers” and over promising but under delivering. As of this time of writing, there are two SCT cases lodged against Luxa Collections with one of the cases already granted a money order – refer to picture 6.

Sometime around June 2024, “LUXA” changed its store name once again to “Base Collections”. One can refer to their neighbor “WOOD SLABS” as a reference point when the shop names were changed from B&B Atelier to LUXA and then from LUXA to Base Collections – refer to picture 7.

Base Collections (UEN 202208403W)

In the case of Base Collections, Goh Tee Lee is appointed director instead of Lou Zou Yee.

At this point, it is unclear whether Lou Zou Yee has stepped down as Luxa director as there seems to be another Luxa unit at Tan Boon Liat #10 -04 (https://luxacollections.com/contact-us/). Yes, these businesses are run by the same handful of people and operate multiple stores in Tan Boon Liat with different names. For example, another store “Wood Atelier” at #04 -10 likely operates under the same group of people with Luo Mei listed as company director.

Back to Base Collections – the same secretaries from B&B Atelier, Safura Binte Sa’ad and Koh Teng Teng, are appointed secretaries of Base Collections – refer to picture 8.

Since Base Collections went through a name change, there have not been any SCT cases against them just yet. However, Google reviews paint the same story as B&B Atelier and Luxa. One customer review complained of his/her table cracking within just three months of purchase – refer to picture 9.

Main mastermind – Brandon Toh?

Based on multiple customers who have communicated with me since my first blog, it seems that this ah beng boss, Brandon Toh Zhuo Ji Xin, is the main guy running these shows. He has been observed to move from shop to shop and seems to be the main decision maker. He has multiple aliases – such as “James”, “Jason”, amongst others.

A people profile search on ACRA revealed that he has been disqualified from acting as company director since 11/04/2019 (refer to picture 10), which might explain why he might have installed several “puppet” directors but is the main one running the show. This is purely my opinion and speculation. However, what remains clear is that Brandon Toh and the other company shareholders have been profiting from unethical business practices and have been getting away with it in broad daylight for a few years now.
