1 day in Athens, Greece

I travelled to Greece with my boyfriend last May. We went to Milos and Mykonos but had a day layover in Athens. We first landed in Athens in the morning and went straight to our hotel, MiraMe Athens Boutique Hotel, which was in a super nice location near the city center. We dropped off our stuff and went to a nearby rooftop bar where we enjoyed some nice refreshing freddo cappuccinos (ice cold cappuccinos). After enjoying some amazing views, listening to live music, and getting our caffeine in, we walked to the Acropolis. We bought tickets ahead of time, but that day was coincidentally a national holiday so there were no entrance fees and the Acropolis was open to the public. We toured around the Ancient Greek monuments and definitely got our steps in. Despite it being extremely crowded, we managed to take some great pictures without anyone in the background. After the Acropolis, we went to a nearby alleyway full of cafes and bars where we enjoyed a glass of wine and some small snacks like kalamata olives and calamari. We then walked around and stumbled upon some famous Greek statues and structures like Hadrian’s Arch. We then headed back to our hotel and quickly changed for dinner. We went to a restaurant called Dionysos Zonar’s where we enjoyed the night views of the Acropolis. We shared a Greek salad and grilled octopus which was amazing. After dinner, we walked around the city center and enjoyed gelato for dessert.
