Got the permanent retainer today and can’t stand

My parents payed fully for my treatment so I don't want to come of as ungreatefull but I went in to my dentist today and somehow we ended up getting a permanent brace installed behind my teeth.

I honestly feel misled because I specifically avoided any sorts of metal braces only to have some welded into my teeth after treatment.

I have another appointment in 2 weeks so they can fit a removable retainer that I'd use at night but is it feasable to just ask for her to remove the permanent one ?? How would I even bring that up with my dentist because I really hate this but I don't want to sound rude/ungrateful for the options I've been given.
