If you’re caught in the Florida panhandle, put this one on your list! For $8 (per vehicle) you can enter the park. There are activities such as easy hiking through wetland ecosystems (we opted out of this due to not enough time), snorkeling, shelling, swimming or simply walking the beach.

The first day we checked out Shell Island. You must catch a ferry ride to the “island” which isn’t really an island but you definitely get those deserted island vibes. The ferry ride costs about $25 pp. There isn’t really any shade besides this old pier structure so go prepared. They allow you to keep the shells you find which is nice.

On the second day we snorkeled around the jetties. Our favorite were the 3-4 small rock piles that go toward the bay. The water is greener on that area but you truly get coral reef vibes. The other jetty section that is right behind the jetty store has more blue tones but we didn’t get to see as many different kinds of fish. We were told sea turtles go in this section though. They do offer snorkel rental gear for about $20 if needed.
