Don't delete your chat history with your ex!

Really is an unpopular opinion.

But I don't believe in fully removing the existence of your ex from your life. Especially for telegram. Apparently, you can even delete your ex's side.

That's the issue. Why?

Sure, it's easier to move on if you have nothing lingering in your phone storage. I agree. But I feel that's a really childish thing to do. What you have on your phone now are not just "terrible memories" but also "life lessons".

If your past relationship has been toxic, you can look back at your conversations. Maybe you are dating a new girl after months, and something feels off about the way the new girl texts. It could be her condemning tone. It could feel controlling. It could also be intrusive.

What better example do you have? Your conversation with your narcissistic and toxic ex. These will be your warning signs. The red flags thrown at you once the warning alarm in your head goes off.

Or you can learn from your mistakes of what NOT to do or say when your new partner says something familiar. Your new partner could be pointing out something that your ex pointed out as well, and who knows, YOU could be the toxic one!

Also, I strongly believe that if your ex deletes even your side of messages, he or she is hiding/scared that you read back and realise something now that you're no longer blinded by love. He or she fears that you can screenshot his/her messages and expose to the world the type of person he/she was. These texts are messages that go against all the fake news he or she has spread to his/her friends.

But yes, you should remove the pictures and memories if you have someone new. But your past conversations, just archiving them is fine imo.

And to my ex:

Not to worry, I knew what kind of person you are. I had started screenshoting our conversations long before you even thought about deleting my chat. So if any stupid rumours or fake gossip reaches me, I have enough proof to show everyone the real you.
