Zhangjiajie — Wulingyuan area

Zhangjiajie’s forest of mountains and peaks is one of the most unique and astonishing geological features in the world. It was also the inspiration for the floating mountains of Avatar’s Pandora. James Cameron actually directly took the image of the peak in the cover photo and used it in the movie. Zhangjiajie was once submerged under and ancient lake and created by a volcano on the seabed. Millennia of water movements, erosion, and collapse shaped the pillars to how they are today.

10/10 must see at least once in your lifetime. (Though there are a ton of people there)
