Perfect restaurant for alfresco dining

Publico is an Italian restaurant in Robertson Quay. I have gone past it multiple times in the evening and they always have those fairy lights which makes the place super romantic looking.

I was there for a Friday lunch. Walked in without any booking and we were seating at the sofa seats in the outdoor area. There were flies around but it’s not housefly or mosquitoe so that’s okay. There is a huge umbrella above our table so it’s not too hot.

Initially I saw that there’s set lunch on the website, which seemed quite value for money but I failed to notice that it was only for Mon-Thu! So we had to go for the regular afternoon, which I do not mind at all since there’s more choices! Here’s what we ordered.

1. Calamari & Cauliflower Fritti $22

It came with caper aioli sauce which went well with the calamari. The cauliflower was surprisingly good as well! But then again, how wrong can fried food go right?!

2. Burrata & Cherry Tomato $32

Creamy burrata, datterino tomatoes and arugula. This is my favourite dish of the day! The burrata is perfectly creamy and the cherry tomatoes were so sweet! I think I had 3/4 of the whole dish. 🤭 Definiteky will order this again! Perhaps even add ok prosciutto to ‘zhng’ it even further.

3. Tartufata pizza $30

This is a white based wood fired pizza with black truffle, porcini mushroom, smoked scamorza, mozzarella and truffle oil. Not bad at all!

4. Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut, Champagne $125

Pinot meunier, Pinot noir, Chardonnay. We ordered the whole bottle! Celebrating the end of 2022 on a workless weekday so why not!

5. Flat white $7

Ending the perfect afternoon with a cup of coffee. Comes with a biscotti on the side.

6. Latte $7

Not pictured. Comes with a biscotti too.

Overall damage: $275

It was a super chillax afternoon and a great place to hang out. The dinner crowd will probably be a lot livelier with music and a full house. This would be good spot for a date night. My partner could attest to that, having been on dates at this very same place. 😂
