We tried donuts from 7 different, highly-rated places in East LA. It’s a tiny percentage of the hundreds of donut shops in the City of Angels. BUT we tried to keep to 3 types to fairly judge across all the shops: glazed raised, maple bar and a shop signature!
I have a favorite local that I reeeeally want to keep to myself but I also love the owners and wouldn’t mind sending them some more business. No gatekeeping here.
We tried famous Randy’s donuts, Bob’s donuts (Farmer’s Market LA), Sidecar Donuts (The Grove), SK Donuts and Colorado Donuts
Our top glazed raised: Randy’s/Monterey Donut
Our top maple bar: Colorado Donut/Monterey Donut
Our top signature was different across the board but it really does matter which one you order!
Our group’s favorites are:
Crème brûlée from SK Donut
Berry Cream-filled Cronut from Colorado Donut
*Huckleberry donut from Sidecar
Crumb donut from Monterey Donut
*recommended by staff
Honorable mentions:
most unique experience is Donut Man in Grand Central Market downtown. They make the donuts in an open kitchen and they are beautiful. Sadly, none of them made the top flavor list.
Donuts are not created equal. A few we tried were spit out immediately because they tasted BAD. Especially when we were closing in on over 30 different donuts in 48 hours. It was A LOT. Only one of our group (5 people) didn’t feel absolutely horrible after eating 1/5 of 36 donuts. I went straight into a sugar coma and haven’t had a donut since 😅
soon enough, I’ll be back at Monterey Donut, soon enough!#reccommendedforyou #fyp #lafood #donuts
