If you’d like more story time or tips please comment! And tell me what you’re like to hear.

I swore to myself I’d never date someone in the military because my first go round wasn’t the greatest experience.

However, when you meet that person and know that they are worth it that all changes.

Distance won’t matter.

Not talking for months. And the only contact you have is through letter. Is worth it. And builds the bond so much stronger.

I’m the type of girlfriend/wife that has to always be around my person. We never spent time apart unless it was work or other important things of that sort. So when ship date came for my partner. It felt as if the world was crashing in. It legitimately felt like the end of the world too. It’s okay to feel that way. I was constantly crying until I almost felt numb. Dramatic now I see that but everyone copes differently.

3 months no contact or phone calls. Sucks. I’m not going to glorify it. But when that time is up and you see your person again it is honestly one of the best feelings ever.

❣️How to get through it :

•keep yourself busy -> read, work, color, listen to your favorite music continue school or college as if they’re just on a vacation.

It took me a bit to figure that out…

•spend time with family because if you all are married or plan to be. And are going to follow him or her where they go…your time with family slowly decline and then you’ll be away and miss them and friends a lot.

• don’t stay at home bundled up in emotions

However I’d say from experience give yourself that time a day or so or a week to feel and gather your emotions

•journal and start writing your letters to them

But avoid making them miss home too because trust me as hard as it is for you it is for them 100x more

• babysit or dog sit

•nature walks

• friends will be your biggest help during this

And me I had one good friend who is his bestfriend too and it helps to just talk about it all

You aren’t alone and will get through it!!

⭐️Another tip! Count down by weeks and months don’t do it by day it makes it longer!

Is this a topic some would enjoy me talking about because I could go on and on and I would love to help others get through the journey ahead.
