Salt dough Ornaments

I’ve made these every year since my three year old was born!!! SUCH a special way to document their tiny growing feet. 🥹

Recipe:

-2 cups flour

- 1/2 cup table salt

- 3/4 cups water

Mix together with a wooden spoon and you’re ready! I like to use hot water I feel like it makes them smoother. Parchment paper is also pretty important for rolling these out.

We did some shapes this year but usually we just do little foot prints…. Feet are so much easier than hands to stamp for tiny babies in my opinion!! Make sure you poke a hole out for the ribbon!

Then bake at 200 for about two hours until they’re dry. I like to wait until the next day to paint them. A craft acrylic works great.

If the dough is too sticky add a little flour, too dry, add a little water! Climate and flour type play a huge role in these ratios.

I also LOVE adding cinnamon if you want a brown color or a more rustic feel. It also makes them smell so yummy!

They make great grandparent gifts. My favorite year I did cinnamon feet with pink velvet ribbon for our baby girl, and they came out so so cute! Try this and watch how much your baby grows each year!
