Pro’s & Con’s of Remote Work

Remote work can be a great opportunity, but there are some trade-offs to think about if you're considering a remote role.

Here are some pro's & con's I considered when I decided to take my Hybrid role instead of a fully-remote role:

Pro: You can work from any city!

Con: You may have to work odd hours to acommodate your team's time zones

Pro: You can work from a state with lower income tax, so you can save more money

Con: You miss out on in-person networking opportunities and camaraderie in the office, which might hinder your career progression.

For me, the in-person connections were the most valuable thing that I didn't want to give up by taking a fully remote role. I enjoy building relationships with people outside of my direct team, and it's a lot harder to do that if you're not in the office in person. Even though I spend 6 hours a week commuting to the office, I think it's worth the chance to meet someone new spontaneously!
