Amidst a period of personal challenges, I decided to volunteer at Tina's K9 rescue, driven by my love for animals and a desire to make a difference. Our family already had two dogs and our third dog had just passed away. My dad was initially hesitant about adding another one to the mix. But my urge to volunteer was strong, not only to get out of the house but also to find solace in the company of animals.

I started with simple tasks like helping with monthly dog washes, but over time, I developed a close bond with the shelter's owner and became more involved in the rescue's activities. This was where I first met Jackson, a red heeler who had been living at the shelter for nearly a year, experiencing the hardships of being shuffled between homes.

My pleas to bring Jackson home were met with resistance from my father for months. The turning point arrived during an adoption event for the rescue. Jackson was the only dog left unclaimed, and no one had shown interest in him. I sat beside him, and when my then-boyfriend playfully tapped me, Jackson instinctively moved to protect me. That moment revealed a deeper connection.

Rushing back home, I asked my dad one more time, and to my surprise, he finally said Yes! That was the start of an incredible journey with Jackson, who became my loyal companion and best friend. Our story is one of resilience and the unique bond between me and my best friend who saved my life. ❤️
