HIIII BESTIES!

guess what im in france 🇫🇷 for my summer school!!! just landed ytd and its the night of my second day!

jus wanted to share some possible global experiences opportunities that u can anticipate or apply for in NUS!!! cuz i was initially adamant on going overseas for university bcoz i rlly wanted to travel the world!! but with the plethora of global programs to choose from, i am very thankful to have chosen NUS in the end! u can probs go multiple countries!!!

- collated this list from the experiences of my friends and i! literally everyone is EVERYWHERE in this world rn bruh!

1. Student Exchange Program! (SEP) 🫡

- basically a semester-long program where u attend school at a partnering university and have to map NUS mods over! if u r taking a single degree single major, can consider saving up your Unrestricted Electives to map over to the foreign university! (i wrote a post about “Things u need to know abt NUS” which detailed acads stuff like types of mods)

anw u can apply for this exchange programme through ur faculty (school of…) and each faculty has their own set of criteria! usually GPA and essay or interview! but ik biz school has the most components… tough

2. summer school program!🌹

they will send out emails before the semester ends about summer schools to apply for! as the name suggests, it takes place during the summer and is usually a 2-4 weeks long program? i know people who go korea, china, or the USA for summer school! can map one or two mods HAHAHA but it is usually for the experience. both SEP and summer schools are kinda pricey oops

3. NUS Overseas College (NOC) 🫶🏻😀

this is a super cool programme for entrepreneurial students! basically its an internship program (and i heard it clears some Unrestricted Electives too!) currently i know 4 people going on this program (3 of whom are freshmen) - countries: vietnam, phillipines, Norway, USA etc

how this program works is that u have to go through an internal round of interview in NUS (for the country) then apply for the internship at various companies in a foreign country! quite a competitive program bur its usually for the Computer Science or Data science students! harder for the arts kids oops

$: sch pay for flight, accoms, visa (if any), and tops up the measly intern pay LOL

4. CFG2k mod!!!☺️

i only found out about this super recently as well! basically CFG stands for Centre for Future Graduates and this mods brings students to ASEAN countries (mainly) and visit various companies to learn about possible work opportunities? but my friend who went said they had time in the evening to shop and stuff so its q a good experience i think! trip takes place during recess week so pray u have no midterms to study for!!!!

5. Global Experience Programme! (GEx)😏

its basically a mod and u go overseas for 1 month!! (ASEAN, Sweden, NYC, Paris, Beijing, Tokyo) some are more competitive than others LOL

and need to write reports and submit during the trip

also the sem after the GEx need to conduct some presentations on ur findings too!

$: partly subsidised. depends on where too!

6. Impact Experience Programme! (IEx)😳

its going overseas to do VIA and volunteering work! not uncommon in universities here actl! i see these opportunities offered at NTU and SMU as well… anw usually ASEAN countries and its rlly not travelling per se… dont expect too much for living conditions

fees? can be reimbursed by sch :)

anw theres something similar about global volunteering opportunities under this student organisation called AISEC too!

7. IEx linked mods! similar to IEx but while IEx is a two year long programme, IEx linked is a one sem long “taster” programme! but u dont stay there for the whole duration! jus during summer

also fully subsidised i think
