if u are considering staying on campus, you SHOULD!!! Ive always looked forward to living on campus (taste of freedom 🤤) plus my home is rlly far from school so yay save transport time!

- btw i stay in RC: cinnamon college

More importantly, its a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me!! when else wld u be wild and crazy and have fun w ur friends until 5am?!

the pros of campus life are really obvious! shorter traveling time (i put on my slides and take the lift down to go class in 5min), making friends and living THE uni life 😻

cons? hmm i guess price is an issue for some (we will talk abt it during “RCs vs halls” it can be quite pricey to stay on campus

socially, it gets exhausting sometimes… with so many happenings around and the inherent nature to feel “FOMO”, ive attended suppers and interest groups that completely wrecked my sleep schedule… fixed it this sem alr though!

also i think something not a lot of people talk about is eating alone sometimes! if u r someone who is completely okay with it, then sure! otherwise its quite important to find bfast and dinner buddies! and sometimes ur buddy cant make it every day so ull have to eat alone or takeaway! ive done that a few times and honestly its not that bad HAHAHAH just part of growing up!! <3 #wearegirlbosses #wedontfearjudgement

and honestly most people dont notice u r eating alone, its jus the hyperconsciousness—-

another thing is seeing ur floormates the moment u open the door!! last sem i had a rlly bad sleeping schedule and wld wake up ard 930-10am. thats the period where some people have classes and i always bump into my floormates in my most lapsup state… help!! this sem is much btr bcoz girlie wakes at 7ish so theres no one meheheeh

but i really love the accessibility here!! love the interest groups hehe i usually go for badminton but ive tried captains ball once and dance a few times! wld love to try more in the future

oh yes for facilities u cant forget the gym gym! its a 2min walk! so are the study rooms and the dining hall which is on the first floor! there are around 5 stalls: noodles, asian, western, indian, and malay food so u r spoiled for choice! (…?) the meal enhancements are great we get icecream or chips quite frequently

lastly in RCs there are usually options such as AC or no AC, corridor or suite, single gender or mixed gender floors.

for me im AC, corridor, and mixed gender floor! ngl i love it HAHAHA.

yes as the title suggests, its just a snippet, will delve into more deets next time 👽 feel free to drop questions!!

next ❗️Residential Colleges (RC) vs Halls

these two are the most popular accommodation options. RCs are located mostly at utown (with the exception of RVRC)

the main difference w hall shld be the facilities (single rooms, more well-maintained and cleaner) and ofc the programmes

for RC we are required to take RC modules that can map towards clearing ur core curriculum modules, or serve as Unrestricted Electives! i wrote a post touching on the acads stuff so feel free to read it on my page

for Halls it works differently, mostly needing to have multiple CCAs to accumulate enough points to stay in the subsequent year. each Hall has their own forte, eg the artistic ones, the sporty ones, the chill ones, so rlly do ur research and check them out’

tldr for RC vs Hall, its really a cultural difference, hall is more party and RCs are more nerdy

* we have a lot of happenings at RCs, but ngl quite nerdy like trivia nights… to each its own but i rlly like it here since im q a nerd too! (again: im from cinnamon if u are interested in applying can drop me a dm!)

before applying maybe can ask seniors or anyone who have stayed there before about the CULTURE of the hall/rc! quite important if u r gg to be there for the next one/two years

for APPLICATION tips,

honestly just be urself HAHAHA by this time yall shld have applied alr and tembu is rlly popular (i applied and got rejected oops)

but for hall i heard that it increases ur chance if u join RAG (NUS wide event) and represent the hall! its a way for u to get to know seniors since they will be the one who assess whether u can get in :p

ive touched really briefly on campus life and theres rlly sooo much to share

most details probably can be found online (price, meal plans, aircon, suite)

but yea id rlly recommend this experience to all juniors hehe! adulting!!!
