I got fired.

I got fired, for literally nothing. I did no wrong here. I was trying to get my CNA license, in my state some nursing homes have a program you can take with the state. I had started the process with the same company but when I was in high school and I didn’t take it so seriously. I had never ended up finishing general orientation due to graduating hs and moving.

I told my employer that this time I wanted to take it seriously. Which I did. The first day of general orientation, I had to call IT MYSELF, to figure out a problem on the computer. I then spent a few days just doing general orientation, I ended up finishing and starting on the actual classes.

There are 2 parts to the classes there’s an online book, modules, and quizzes we had to do. There were 4 people who were hired in the general time I was. I ended up getting sick for a few days, I did go to the doctor and they concluded that it was probably due to stress, which makes sense bc I stress a lot and I do try to mask it.

I gave my employer the doctors note. During the time I was sick at home, I read the book pages and let my employer know, that I would be doing them at home. I also had asked where my hands on skills were going to be, the day before I had them. I then was told that I was supposed to be done with said online modules and quizzes. I hadn’t known about the online modules until a few days prior to when I had asked.

She basically told me that I was behind and I should have already had it all done. No one told me that. Not even the state coordinator at virtual orientation when she told us about them. A few days later after I got back to work, she told me that I wasn’t the only one behind and that the 4 people who were hired a little before me, were also behind and she didn’t know what was going on and explained to me that she wasn’t supposed to meet with us until after our first day of hands on skills. So it was the state coordinators end that it happened on. I started working really hard to get the online modules and quizzes done.

One of those days I spent abt 13 hours working on all of it with no break. (Ik that was by choice but it shows how dedicated I was) I ended up going home and not finishing but I told my boss I was going to go in the next day to finish. (I didn’t know if I could bc the website everything is on had an update but I didn’t check what time it was updating until I got home that night)

So I go in the next day for about 3.5 hours and I finally finished and had only my hands on skills to do. I had a few days off in between time, until that day but the day before I get an email from the state coordinator telling me the instructor for it has a family emergency. I texted my boss trying to see if she was aware of this.

She then replied and said “ugh that’s not going to work. You’re behind and you’ll be even more behind, so I’m going to have to let you go. I’m sorry but it’s not negotiable.” (or something like that.)

So basically bc the instructor had a family emergency, I GOT FIRED. I love how all of this wasn’t even my fault and I got the repercussions.

I also want to mention that I was not training for almost 8 weeks 🙄 PLEASE. When I finished my online modules and the quizzes it was literally only my 4th full week.
