I have never been the biggest portrait shooter in my career but I have picked up many tips and tricks along the way!

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY GEAR

Camera: Any with manual settings works

Lens: Prime Lens (50mm or 85mm) OR Zoom Lens (24-70mm or 70-200mm)

Lights: Speedlight or constant lighting (Aputure 120d)

Backdrop: Any unique backdrop works!

Tripod: Helpful for stability and framing consistent shots

Filters: Black Pro Mist (good for dreamy effects)

Speaker: Good for playing music during a portrait session

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

Connect with the Subject: Make them feel comfortable.

Rule of Thirds: Place the subject off-center.

Frame the Subject: Use the environment creatively.

Focus on the Eyes: Sharp eyes convey emotion.

Use a Wide Aperture: Lower f-numbers blur the background.

Try Different Angles: Experiment with various perspectives.

Guide Poses: Help subjects relax for natural poses.

Soft Light: Aim for gentle, diffused light.

Experiment: Try different lighting setups.

Basic Editing: Adjust exposure and colors as needed.
