Drive in Australia 2023 - Tips 101

Sharing my rental car experience in Australia~

RENTAL CAR

🚗 We paid for a package that includes full protection (insurance) and navigation system. It covers all the tolls on the road and we simply return the petrol full-tank. Overall hassle-free experience.

CAR PARKING

🛞 We booked free parking accommodations, so it’s comfortable during our stay. While on the road between locations, do check up on free-parking places such as malls after 5pm.

LONG DISTANCE DRIVE

🚘 Pre-plan your travel routes and arrange pit-stops in between the journey for break prior to drive. Unexpected road conditions and events did affect our schedule. It gets dark quickly in Aussie too so plan to reach your next accommodation earlier.

During our self-drive:

🌌 We had to drive up the mountain road close to night time and it was such an experience. Reduced lights and visibility, as well as unfamiliarity with the roads gave us some panic.

I’ve learnt that in such situations, always drive safely and within your speed limit you can handle.
